A mind draining week

Have you ever had one of those mind blowing weeks where you just don’t know how you made it.  Well this for me has been one of them.  I have been emotionally stretched trying to figure out how to handle and talk about some sensitive topics.  I have had a couple friends talk to me about hair issues.  How to handle their hair, product to use, how often to cut it, where to go, and everything.

I have also talked to friends about their kids and sleep issues.  Of course their little ones are younger than mine but they know that I have had years of dealing with sleep issues with my little one.  I have shared with this the things I have tried, the techniques I have, the melatonin and other herbal things I have used, the sleep habits, etc. Also, about crib tents, transitioning, environment and everything.  Having a little one that isn’t good at sleeping is really hard.  People don’t realize it.  And for those that just miss a few hours of beauty sleep have nothing on a mom who has a kid who just can’t sleep.  My little one the whole first year would only sleep for 15-20 min at a time.  I thought I was going to loose my mind but I also knew I had to do what I could to survive.  I was a mom and I had a family to take care of.  So I needed to find a way to make it work.

I have spent my week talking to my friend about potty training.  That is one hard job.  I have been trying for a while but well I know my daughter will when she is ready.  Well I have decided that because my daughter has a LOVE of candy I will just fill a bowl of all sorts of candy and for every time she goes she get a piece of candy.  But if she does a #2 then I have a special bundle just for that occasion.  So I am prepared.  So I shared this new thing with my friend and told her that she needed to find some incentive for her kid.  Whether it is a toy, candy, hair goodies, but something she could see, touch, and was well aware of everyday and time it happened.  She thought that was a great idea.  So she was going to make a bowl and fill it with something too.

I have also had to talk to my single friend about dating.  And boy let me tell you that is just exhausting.  Momma Mia wow I need a vacation after dealing with this one.  One minute he is fine, then I am suppose to help find a place to eat at, then the places aren’t good enough, then he is nervous.  Oh my gosh I just can’t take it.  And then to top it off he gets a sty on his eye lid just the week before the date.  Oh my gosh this is just going to make him a nervous wreck.  I want to turn my phone off so I don’t have to keep having my eyes roll back in my head.  I haven’t dated in 20 years.  So what do I know lol.  Well obviously more than he does.  I know I am suppose to try and help him out.  He is like a brother to me so I should do something or he will be single forever.

Then I had to deal with just other emotional things.  People just not communicating right and I had to clear it up.  People having other emotional issues and trying to read to much into things and I had to try and re-focus them.  People that just think to much of themselves.  Oh my goodness it is just exhausting.  I just can’t take dealing with so much all in a week but the sad thing is this is a typical day or week for me.  No wonder I get migraines.

What happens at dance…

Well both of my kids take dance and it is so strange to go there with all of the other mom’s.  Now my kids are in other sports as well and I don’t have the same issue so I am not sure it must just be a dance thing.  But well when we go sometimes there is a couple of mom’s that might have known each other for a while talking but other wise no mom talks to one another.  It is just really strange.  I know there are new mom’s and they could benifit from getting info on how things work, what the kids are doing, if they can leave to go run to the market while they are in class.  Just something with basic communication would be cool but they don’t it is crazy.  I just have a hard time with it sometimes that the place I feel the most comfortable at times is in the car.

I asked the girls that work there and they said it is strange but they see it too.  They don’t know why it happens and why mom’s at dance are like that.  One of them too has a girl in softball and it doesn’t happen at sports like that.  So we just don’t know why.  So is this where some girls get the idea of how to be snobs???

For a polished ponytail à la Balmain:

1. If you are starting with unwashed hair, add some texture with a few doses of dry shampoo. For a freshly washed mane, work in a volumizing gel or texturizing paste when hair is still damp.

2. Using a round brush, blow dry hair in small sections on low heat. Make sure to lift each segment and dry at the base of the roots for body and volume.

3. Once hair is fully dry, work a dime-sized amount of smoothing serum into the ends.
4. Next, collect your mane into a loose ponytail, making sure to brush over the top, sides and back as you go.
5. Once you feel the crown is smoothed to your liking, secure your hair with a clear elastic.

Finish the look with a mist of hairspray and a styling cream to give locks a glossy, healthy sheen. (Tip: add some edge to your look with a metallic hair tie or decorative embellishment.)

Dreaming to illuminate your own cheeks? Get colorfully contoured with our six simple steps!

For a frostbitten flush à la Versace:

1. Start with a luminous complexion and prep your skin with foundation, concealer and finishing powder.

2. Select a bright cream blush—keeping in mind that bold color can always be toned down with a touch of blending. (Tip: a vibrant shade is an instant complexion booster!)

3. Apply a few dabs of color to the apples of your cheeks and blend in a circular motion upward toward your temples. (Tip: down is drab! Keep your look youthful by concentrating color high on your cheekbones.)

4. To amp up intensity, apply multiple layers of cream until you reach your desired flush.

5. For longer lasting color, set your shade with a light sweep of powder blush in a matching hue.

6. To finish your look with a glistening touch, use an angled brush and dust highlighting powder along the uppermost rim of your cheekbones.

From rosy radiance to a glamorous glow, warm up winter with a fetching flush!

Bold Brows

Beauty addicts take note: thanks to several high-profile appearances on the fall runway, statement brows are back and having a major moment! From flatteringly full to bleached-out bold, this scene-stealing beauty trend has us dreaming of epic brows. On the catwalk, dramatically dark eyebrows at Oscar de la Renta paired gorgeously with bitten lips and rosy cheeks, while Alexander Wang went for downtown minimalist with bare faces and unfussy brows. At Jen Kao hard-to-miss arches got the golden treatment with a dose of glittered pigment and at Jason Wu, brows went missing beneath dramatic eyes and a bit of bleach. Next level!

If runway-induced brow envy has you on the hunt for a look that is both wearable and of-the-moment, take a cue from the models at Oscar de la Renta and contrast a dark brow with a fresh complexion and a hint of color. Follow your natural brow line and fill in with your tool of choice (i.e. a brow pencil, brown tint, brow coloring powder) then give your arches a proper polish with a coat of brow gel and a quick tweeze of any errant strays—just be careful to never over-pluck. For a fetching finishing touch, contrast your emphasized eyebrows with a bright lip, exaggerated lashes or vivid cheeks. Embrace the power of a fuller brow and reinvent your look with one of this season’s best beauty trends. Bottom line, bold brows are ba-na-nas!

Things that make me go hummm

So I have a friend that I just don’t understand sometimes.  I mean I am pretty black and white when it comes to thinking but well he is a ton of grey I think.  He is still single at my age and I have known him for ages it seems.  But well he does some crazy things sometimes.  For one he met up with a girl that he found somewhere I forget and she has a kid.  He found out about the kid after a couple times together.  And well after those first couple times he knew he didn’t want to continue things with her but well she didn’t get the clue.  Well for over a year now she has text him and things telling him things like she is moving, what she is cooking for dinner, all sorts of stupid stuff.  But the really stupid one is that she as been out of state for months now and she just asked my friend if she could move in with him for a little bit til she found a place.  Come on lady he doesn’t text you back and doesn’t like you why try to have something that isn’t there.  And he has nicknamed you to all his friends “crazy lady”.

I also wonder why people who are young or well friends of mine that well I see that don’t have insurance or just don’t get sick very often not know how to take care of themselves.  If you have a cough that goes deep into your chest you don’t fix it by taking Tylenol PM.  That will just make you sleepy and if you can sleep through all the coughing.  Why don’t people just go to the store and talk to the pharmacist even at Rite Aid, Walgreen’s, Wallmart, etc. and they are happy to help you understand what is out there on the shelves that can help you.  That is what they are there for too so ask.  Or ask a friend that you trust.  But come on you aren’t going to get better if you don’t treat the cold or symptoms.  It drives me nuts to see my friends do things like this to themselves.  And to see even my husband try to take Gatorade to rehydrate himself after throwing up.  You don’t want to use Gatorade because it has sugar.  Use things like water, propel, and other things to get fluids into you again.
